Graeme Byrd is a connector, collaborator and changemaker. With 15+ years of experience, Graeme is at the intersection of technology, sustainable business and marketing with a commitment to empower businesses in supporting clients and using technology for societal benefit. Graeme leverages his experience in social business, technology and engaging communities, to drive a maximum benefit for business that balance the needs of today with a commitment to create a sustainable society for the next seven generations.
Currently based in Vancouver, BC (after spending 15 years in Portland, Oregon), Graeme manages global agency partner relationships at Hootsuite - the world’s most widely used social relationship platform. Hootsuite’s mission to transform messages into meaningful relationships aligns nicely with Graeme’s commitment to create a sustainable society.
Prior to his relocation to Canada, Graeme spent 3 years as the Director of Business Development and Client Services for cascade web//development where he managed clients’ strategy, design and website development needs. Additionally, during his years in Portland, Oregon, Graeme’s commitment to connecting and collaborating for societal benefit can be seen through his work in building community. During this time he was President of the Net Impact Portland Chapter, a founding member of Oregon Environmental Council's Emerging Leaders Board and Chair of the steering committee to launch the "Associates" Program for Business for Culture & the Arts. Graeme was also involved in making change happen in a larger level. In 2013, Graeme worked closely with fellow business leaders in Oregon to pass House bill 2296 creating "Benefit Companies."
His earlier professional experience includes managing business development and client relations for FMYI [for my innovation], a SaaS company that is a Certified B Corporation, managing marketing programs for national restaurant chains, launching a carbon neutral program for an automotive services company, working in higher education, and creating documentary films for the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center and International Korean Adoptee Associations (amongst other film projects).
Graeme has been a speaker at numerous conferences, events and universities, including the Net Impact Conference, Green Professionals Conference, Willamette Valley Development Officers Conference, Portland State University, Willamette University, and Special Libraries Association workshops.
Graeme and his wife, Stacey, spend their time exploring British Columbia (like a good American would) with their Portuguese Water Dog, Ojai Cali and child, Roen. One may say they are just 2 Byrds a Roen with Ojai Cali in the boat!
